Our Learning Journey

Our first topic in 2019 is playlist and we have been learning about different genres of music, instrument families and where they are found in an orchestra. We then learnt about how the ear works so we can hear sounds and the names of the different parts of the ear. We listened at some different types of music from around the world and located the places on a map. We heard lots of very different types of music from bhangra, yodelling and gospel to scat and Inuit throat singing. We created art work using oil pastels, we listened to the song What a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong and through about how the lyrics made us feel.

We also recently took part in the Grow to School project and worked in teams to find out about food from all around the world to make wraps. Our countries were Japan, Chile, Spain and Cuba then we used unusual ingredients such as paprika, butternut, squash and corriander. When we finished we all tried each other's wraps and decided which we liked best and why.
