Early Years The school follows the revised Early Years statutory framework which came into effect from 1 September 2021. Four guiding principles in EYFS settings are that: - every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured; - children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships; - children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers; and - children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities. |

'Big Ideas' at Ashbrow School
At Ashbrow School, our children are taught to reflect upon their learning experiences, using 'Big Ideas'. Big Ideas are themes and concepts linked to our unique school drivers: Communication, Ambition, Respect and Enterprise. For more information about how our 'Big Ideas' were developed by our School Council, please see the 'School Council' section on our website.

'Give Me Five'
At Ashbrow School, we recognise the importance of helping our learners to KNOW more and REMEMBER more so they can DO more.
In each of our National Curriculum subjects, teachers provide opportunities for pupils to revist prior learning taught in the last lesson, the last term and last year.
We call this part of our lessons: 'Give Me Five'!

We carefully plan the knowledge, skills and understanding for pupils in each year group and communicate this with parents every term.
